The Hamta Pass trek, a historic route from Kullu to Lahaul-Spiti, offers stunning views of valleys, snow-capped mountains, and unique rock formations. Suitable for moderately fit trekkers, it passes through forests and alpine meadows. From Hamta Pass (4270m), a vast panorama unfolds. After a Chandra Valley camp, a Jeep safari and short trek lead to Chandrataal (4270m), a breathtaking high-altitude lake. Its emerald waters reflect snow-capped peaks, surrounded by alpine flowers and occasional shepherds. The lake offers fantastic views of the CB Range and Samundra Tapu glacier.

Day 01 :

REPORT AT BASE CAMP SARSAI (1850 Mts.)

Forenoon: Acclimatization trek to the ancient Shiva temple in Dashal. Afternoon: Trek orientation and preparation. Evening bonfire with an adventure movie.

Day 02 :

MANALI – SETTAN – JOBRI NALA – UCHUNG BIHADI / CHIKKA (3100 Mts.) 4 Hrs.

Drive to Jobri Nala, passing apple orchards and forests. The trail, once a steep climb, now follows a road. Villages along the way have legends about being gateways to heaven. Hike through meadows and forests to Uchung Bihadi camp.

Day 03 :

UCHUNG BIHADI – BHALU KA GHERA (3530 Mts.) 4/5 Hrs.

Trek through stunning landscapes below Hamta Pass, by a mountain stream. The Chikka campsite offers views of peaks and colorful rocks. Ascend towards Hamta Pass to Bhalu Ka Ghera (Bear's Den), with possible brown bear sightings. Overnight camp.

Day 04 :

BHALU KA GHERA - HAMPTA PASS (4270 Mts.) – SHELAA GHORU (4000 Mts.) 6/7 Hrs.

A steep climb to Hamta Pass reveals panoramic mountain views, including Deo Tibba and Indrasan peaks. Descend and cross a stream to Shelaa Ghoru, a cold campsite.

Day 05 :

SHELAA GORU – CHAATRU (3500 Mts.) 3/4 Hrs.

Leisurely descent to Chaatru in Chandra Valley, crossing a stream. Chaatru is a small settlement on the Chandra river. Overnight camp.

Day 06 :

CHAATRU -CHANDRATAAL (4270 Mts.) - DRIVE TO BASE CAMP SARSAI 4/5Hrs.

Drive along the Chandra river to Chandrataal. After visiting the lake, drive back to Manali.

Day 07 :

PROGRAMME CONCLUDES AFTER BREAKFAST.
